Dating back to the 1980s Dan Hamilton, one of Zelham’s founders started in the industry as a vinyl wallcovering installer in the Maryland and Virginia area. Later Dan went onto open his own wallcovering business. As Dan successfully completed more hotel wallcovering projects and informally managing other trades, more and more clients were compelling him to start up his own general contracting business.
In 2000, Zelham, Inc. was established in Virginia by Dan Hamilton, Ed Anderson and Lynn Zeller. We moved our headquarters to Idaho in 2004 to take advantage of the quality of life and outdoor activities. In 2013, Lynn Zeller retired and Stephen Horel, one of Zelham’s first employees became a shareholder. In 2014, Zelham, Inc. officially became an Idaho company. In 2023, Stephen Horel purchased Zelham, Inc. from Dan Hamilton and Ed Anderson and became Zelham’s new President & CEO. With the sale of Zelham, Ed Anderson was able to retire in June 2023 and Dan Hamilton stayed on as our Responsible Managing Qualifier.
Today, Zelham, Inc. has grown to over 55 employees spanning across 15 states. We pride ourselves in being an employer of choice, where we enjoy low turnover and work amongst many internal referrals. Stephen Horel (President & CEO)
As we enter Zelham's next stage, we are excited to be led by Stephen in to the future as he continues to build upon the company’s family-oriented culture, excellent results track record, and expansion into new growth opportunities.
Since purchasing Zelham, Inc. and becoming President & CEO, Stephen is still highly involved in all aspects of projects. His proactive, hands-on involvement ensures that projects are managed with integrity and a passion for quality.
Stephen joined Zelham, Inc. in 2004 shortly after graduating from the University of Idaho with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Since joining Zelham he played an integral role in Zelham’s overall growth into one of the industry’s most trusted and proven leaders. He has spent his entire career in the hospitality renovation industry. With his strong work ethic and keen understanding of the industry, he easily gains the respect of owners, peers, architects, vendors and subcontractors. Later as the company grew and roles expanded Stephen assumed different roles including Director of Project Management and Vice President of Operations. In these roles, he oversaw day-to-day management of procurement, project management staff, and field operations in addition to serving in an advisory role for all project managers with their existing projects.
Dan Hamilton (Previous President, Founding Member)
Dan started in the hospitality renovation industry in 1980. His vast hands-on knowledge and field experience with performing, superintending, managing, estimating and consulting for numerous clients between the east and west coast lends to his depth of knowledge which is still being passed along to all of our teammembers.
Ed Anderson-Retired 2023 (Previous Executive Vice President, Founding Member)
Ed started in the hospitality industry in 1975 and served as an owner/contractor, and project manager with extensive multi-state experience. During his tenure in addition to managing projects, Ed officially served as Vice President, Executive Vice President, Secretary, and oversaw all field operations, business development and lead marketing efforts for Zelham.
